Highfield and Brookham is an independent, co-educational Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School in Liphook for boys and girls aged 2-13, nestled on the leafy borders of Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey. We welcome families from across Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey, as well as further afield nationally and internationally.
As a family-owned school, we celebrate our genuine independence and prepare children for the leading boarding and top day schools in the country. Not being answerable to a senior school or trust results in a strong sense of togetherness and a welcoming family feel. We work together with our children and their families to ensure the children receive the very best education possible to shape well-rounded, confident children ready to take the leap to senior school in their stride. We regularly feed 30 senior schools which means a unique educational journey for your child. Our Head, Suzannah Cryer has strong contacts with all of the senior schools will play a crucial part in finding the right future school for your child. We have a flawless record of securing entrance to a child’s chosen senior school, whether that be at at 11+ or 13+. Our curriculum gives opportunities for all children to flourish and our scholarship success is evidence of our outstanding academic ambition. Our children have been awarded over 100 scholarships over the past six years to a diverse range of top senior schools, including Wellington College, Cranleigh School, Radley College, Marlborough College and Charterhouse and include a huge variety of scholarships ranging from academic and art to sports and music.

Situated in 175 acres of glorious natural grounds in the South Downs National Park, our school enjoys a truly exceptional setting. Admissions process
Our key entry points are Nursery, Reception, Year 3 and Year 7, but we also warmly welcome children into other year groups where spaces are available. Charlotte Cottrell, our Admissions Registrar, will expertly guide you through the admissions process, whether you’re joining at one of our main entry stages or another point in your child’s educational journey. As the proud parent of two Old Highfieldians, Charlotte combines her wealth of experience with first-hand knowledge of the school, making her the perfect person to answer your questions, arrange your visits and organise your child’s taster days.

We couldn’t be prouder of our Year 8 pupil William 💛 A few weeks ago, he took on a demanding 21km challenge, completing a 14.7km run followed by a 6.3km swim and raising more than £1,000 for @charliespromisecharity. William was inspired after hearing Martin Cosser speak to Year 8 at Highfield about his son Charlie, who lost his life to knife crime. He chose to support the charity’s ‘21 for 21’ campaign, honouring Charlie’s memory and marking what would have been his 21st birthday. A little AC/DC in the Chapel? Go on then, Charlie! 🎸 Taking on Whole Lotta Rosie on guitar meant more than learning the piece. Charlie also had to create his own solo, planning how it would fit into the music and practising until he was ready to perform it. Plenty of preparation behind that moment in the spotlight! A huge well done to all our musicians who performed at Tuesday’s Year 4–6 concert. That means measuring carefully (then double, triple and quadruple checking!) before cutting and sanding. Our chairs went off for half term… and never came back! When Year 2 returned to class yesterday, their chairs were nowhere to be seen. It looked like they were enjoying their holiday a little too much! So the children did the only sensible thing and wrote letters to persuade them to come home. They thought carefully about what might tempt a chair back to school and used some very convincing persuasive language. And this morning… the chairs were back! Clearly Year 2 know how to make a convincing argument! 🎉
Think. Plan. Try. Learn. Adjust. Retry. Improve. 💪 We talk a lot about planning at Highfield, both in the classroom and out on the sports field. Whatever the game, we encourage our children to set themselves goals and work out how to get there, even when a curveball or two comes their way! A “looook!” Then another, and another, until pockets at our Nature Crafting Holiday Club were bursting with leaves of all shapes and sizes. 🍂 Then came the magic! As the children looked closely at every curve and colour, pointy tips became ears, a pale edge a fluffy chin and suddenly a whole family of woodland creatures were looking back at them! A beautiful example of individuality. Don’t you just love them?

Good leaders know it’s ok to ask for help, and our Cooking Club chefs proved it this week! Yesterday’s session had a Halloween twist, with pizza mummies on the menu. Working with pastry takes precision and plenty of patience, especially with warm little hands! The amazing Sophie showed the children how to cut and lay the strips, then it was over to them. When a mummy started to unravel, they weren’t afraid to ask for help. And once they’d got it sorted, they were straight over to help a friend get theirs wrapped up too! Guess who popped in unannounced, mid-lunch for 400 children, with visiting musicians in, and our Head Chef away? The food hygiene inspector! And the verdict? Five stars again! ⭐ That makes ten consecutive years of five-star inspections for our catering team. It’s no surprise to us. Behind every meal is a team who deeply care about what our children eat. As one parent put it: “Our children have undoubtedly become more adventurous and confident eaters since joining Highfield.” A HUGE thank you to Catering Manager Marco and the whole team.
